4th Annual Holiday Window Decorating Contest

Please join us in this new community tradition and help us transform our city into a magical holiday experience in anticipation of the 19^th Annual PGE Festival of Lights Holiday Parade on December 13^th!  Participating businesses in downtown Salem are invited to decorate their front display windows in the spirit of the 2008 parade theme, Holiday Dreams, to win cash prizes and to encourage shoppers to “Shop Local” this year!

Contest Details

1^st, 2^nd and 3^rd Prize will be selected by a panel of judges in the evening on Wednesday, December 3^rd and announced to the public on the morning of the parade, December 13^th, 2008. People’s Choice Award will be voted on by the public, from November 28^th through December 21^st, with ballot boxes placed at several participating businesses and in central locations throughout the downtown area.

Judging Criteria

• All windows must be completed before the morning of November 28^th.  The windows will receive points based on:
• Creative Lighting
• Creative Signage
• Extra Points: Use of Sound and/or Animation
• Creativity in Display

• Visual/Aesthetic Appeal

• Use of the Holiday Dreams Parade Theme

• Creative use of businesses’ products/services

Prizes

1^st Place – Plaque and $100 cash award

2^nd Place – Plaque and $50 cash award

3^rd Place – Plaque and $25 cash award

People’s Choice Award – Plaque
